Ellie and Jack’s August wedding at The Hall Barns

Ellie and Jack’s late August wedding at The Hall Barns was a masterclass in filling your big day with your unique couple style. From the snack table of dreams (S’mores, sweets AND crisps) to the best guest of honour, this was one heck of a wedding. All perfectly captured by the amazing Chris Terry Photography.

The morning of the big day

Getting ready the morning of your wedding is part of the fun, right? Ellie made the most of it by booking Laundry Cottage, our cute on-site country cottage with space to spread out. Our bride gathered all her girls and enjoyed a relaxed morning of hair, make-up and champagne, before the short stroll to the venue. Can we just take a moment for the ‘big reveal’ photos, when Ellie’s dad and her bridesmaids got to see her in her wedding dress for the first time? No, you’re crying…

The unplugged wedding ceremony

The Crewyard worked its rustic charm for Ellie and Jack’s ceremony. The couple opted to keep things simple and let the exposed brickwork and wooden rafters do their thing. Our ceremony space really sets the scene for the most romantic of ‘I do’s. Antique milk churns filled with beautiful white floral displays lined the top of the aisle, while chairs were dressed with mini bunches of gypsophila and neutral bunting hung from the rafters.

Signs welcomed guests to the couple’s ‘Unplugged Ceremony,’ where they were asked to keep phones and cameras packed away for the duration. We love the trend for unplugged weddings, giving guests – and the bride and groom – the chance to focus on the vows.

All the cute summer wedding details

Ellie and Jack absolutely packed their day with cool touches. We love how their individual style ran through every part of the wedding. They held their wedding breakfast in our restored barn – the chicest blank canvas to stamp your big day style.

Tables were dressed with mini vases of white flowers and gypsophila sprigs, and ribbon and candles added a pop of blush pink. Each table featured a photo of the couple’s guest of honour (more on that later; all we can say is that he’s a VERY good boy.)

Our bride and groom also laid on a truly epic snack table. Stacked with bags of crisps, jars of sweets and all the gear for guests to make their own S’mores to toast on The Hall Barns’ firepits, it will go down in wedding history. Yep, we’re obsessed.

Guests were encouraged to leave a message on Ellie and Jack’s retro audio guest book. They also had instant cameras on hand so people could snap photos to add to the guest book wall.

The guest of honour

Ellie and Jack brought their beloved dog Bobby along to enjoy the day. And it’s fair to say he was a massive hit. Nods to Bobby were evident throughout the day, from being the star of the show on every table to the help-yourself doggy biscuits packaged up by the couple. The doggy treats – “From our pup to yours” – all featured a photo of Bobby. What a handsome boy.

Obviously, Bobby dressed for the occasion in his cute doggy tux, and he was on his best behaviour all day. We can report he was the goodest boy for the family portraits. Consider us fully signed-up members of the Bobby fan club. Dogs at weddings are the best and always welcome at The Hall Barns!

Time to party

After enjoying the late-summer sunshine and making the most of The Hall Barn’s outdoor space – not to mention those dreamy countryside views – it was time to get the party really started.

A quick shoe change for our awesome bride – trainers are most definitely the one when it comes to dancing the night away – then our couple and their guests hit the dancefloor. Complete with massive glow sticks, it was an epic end to a magic day.
