The 9 biggest wedding trends for 2026

We can hardly believe 2025 has almost come to an end. It’s been an awesome year for The Hall Barns, packed with the most epic of weddings. And, while we quite like the idea of putting our feet up and scoffing a box of Quality Street, it’s time to look ahead to the new year. We’ve put our ‘wedding expert’ hat on to bring you our predictions for the biggest wedding trends for 2026. Ready for some inspo?

1. Audio guest books

It’s something we’ve seen growing in popularity at 2025 weddings at The Hall Barns, but we predict that 2026 is the year that audio guest books take over. Couples are moving away from a traditional guest book and leaning towards a more personal and interactive audio guest book. These capture voices, genuine emotion and usually a lot of laughter, as guests leave messages, share advice or tell their favourite stories of the couple. Best. Keepsake. Ever.

2. Retro wedding cakes

2026 is the year that vintage-inspired wedding cakes take centre stage. Think kitsch, intricately hand-piped Lambeth cakes in pastel shades. Extra cool points if it’s heart shaped and topped with maraschino cherries. We are loving this nostalgic ‘50s-style trend.

3. Maximalist florals

Forget about sweet and simple wedding flowers, in 2026 it’s go big or go home (just kidding, you do you). Super-sized floral arrangements and installations are set to add character and colour to your big day, whether framing the aisle or elevating your reception space.

4. Bows

We’re calling it; 2026 is the year of the bow. Expect to see bow details on dresses and cute mini veils, as well as invites and reception décor. The chicest, easiest (and cheapest) way to fill your day with bows is by tying ribbons around your champagne coupes. Minimal effort, maximum impact.

5. Super-personal stationery

Wedding stationery gets really personal, with bespoke big day newspapers replacing traditional order of the days. It’s such a cute touch, where couples can share their first date stories, alongside more practical info.

6. Informal dining

Expect an ‘anything goes’ attitude to wedding food in 2026. In place of formal sit-down meals, we think sociable, ‘help yourself’ sharing feasts are going to be a massive trend. Pizza vans, street food trucks and cocktail bars on wheels are also going to be popular with couples who fancy doing things a little differently.

7. Disco ball décor

Nothing says party quite like a disco ball, and we expect to see this sparkling wonder making an appearance at many Hall Barns weddings in 2026. Decorate tables with mini glitter balls, work the design into your wedding stationery; heck, you can wear them as earrings if you like – we fully approve.

8. Monochrome styling

2025 has been the year of colour-pop weddings, but we think there’s going to be a switch back to simple monochrome styling (perhaps with an accent colour thrown in for good measure) for 2026. A black and white theme feels effortlessly classy, as well as cool and contemporary – particularly when paired with a rustic barn venue setting.

9. Flexible wedding venues

Picking the right venue is a biggie. Are you a barn wedding venue kinda couple or do you prefer the Bridgerton-inspired vibes of a country house setting? What we’re seeing more and more for 2026 weddings (and beyond) are couples who want a flexible wedding venue that can ‘do it all’. Top of the list? Wedding venues with everything in one place, a great flow between the ceremony, reception and party, and an events team behind it that actually make the couple feel listened to. It’s all about versatility and the freedom to create whatever kind of big day you fancy, no matter the setting. Oh, and if you’re looking for a super-flexible Leicestershire wedding venue that puts you and your big day vision on a fancy little pedestal, that’ll be The Hall Barns.
